PROPOSALS I want to propose to my girlfriend soon. What is the best way to propose? Any favorite stories?
Old Faithful, Yellowstone National Park
I want you to picture this for a minute, Genevieve and I are hanging out around the world's most famous natural geyser waiting for the next eruption. We make some small talk to occupy our time, but for some reason my mind seems to wander as I look nervous unable to concentrate on the moment. Then, the next eruption goes off. Genevieve and I both stand in amazement as we watch this natural wonder. As the eruption begins to subside, in front of the rest of the crowd, I slowly reach into my pocket, lower myself to
one knee and present her with a ring asking her to
take my hand in marriage and to be mine forever.
She said yes.
Now on second thought, maybe I should have
done things a bit differently.
Because I didn't take into consideration the
fact that for the rest of the trip after the proposal I would be spending
hours upon hours in a car alone with someone
wanting to plan a wedding.
My boyfriend gave me a huge present (imagine a box big enough for a T.V.). When I opened it, he had made a huge ring out of a decorated hula hoop. In the middle was a paper heart, he had written "I love you, will you marry me?" I still have it. My husband proposed to me in a restaurant, during dinner with 4 of our closest friends. I was very excited, but it would have been more romantic if it was just the two of us. My husband proposed to me on the 4th of July, during the grand finale of the fireworks, under the St. Louis Arch. It was very loud and amazing, and I was very excited to see the diamond ring sparkle under the flashing lights of the fireworks. Truly unforgettable, and I think about every time we see fireworks. My husband asked if he could read me a poem that he wrote. At the end of the poem he asked me to marry him. I think it was the most perfect proposal. I don't know of anyone who can remember exactly what their husband said, and I have it all written down. I got to my boyfriend's apartment and he asked me to help look for the kitten. I found the kitten hiding in the closet. When I picked her up, she had a diamond ring on a string around her neck. Then my boyfriend asked me to marry him. My boyfriend and I went to the same college together. I was concerned because he made appointments to speak with the Dean of the college and other faculty, and he wouldn't tell me me why. Then one morning on the way to class, I saw this HUGE banner, painted on a sheet, hanging from the windows of the faculty building that said "Wenda will you marry me?" I still have the sheet. In fact I made it into a quilt for our bed. I Was Told copyright 2006 |
